Year Inducted: 2007
Happy Kenny was Point Pleasant’s version of Jim Thorpe as he excelled in all athletic events. In 1950, famed coach Jerome Van Meter said Happy Kenny, who captained VanMeter’s 1924 football team, was the greatest football player I ever coached. “Happy” could do everything anyone else could do --and do it better. He was an skilled baseball player and wrestler. While working at the Marietta Plant he saved another mans life by diving into icy waters and pulling him to safety.
